This book deals mainly with the use of bamboo in Indonesia, and 15 species have been selected and presented in detail as the most useful species. The book contains chapters on the chemical and physical properties of bamboo and the preservation of culms.
The 15 most useful bamboo species in Indonesia are species of Bambusa, Dendrocalamus, Gigantochloa, Neololeba, and Schizostachyum. Some of them are also known to be cultivated in Thailand, and 10 of the 15 species have been in cultivation at Bambusetum Baan Sammi.
Appendix 1 is a list of all Indonesian bamboos, 176 in total.
